The second Abassi All Stars album comes after the successful release of the vocal album 'Showcase' in 2006. 'Dub Showcase' features dubs of 16 different rhythms with great instrumental variety and was recorded and mixed by neil perch in the Zion Train studio in Cologne during 2004-2006. It is a long time since a dub album has featured such beautiful musicianship and dubwise mixing dexterity such as this one does and the release reminds one of classic albums of the genre such as Sound Iration's seminal 1990 releases and On U Sounds 'Pounding System'. The debut ABASSI ALL STARS album comes after seven 10 inch releases on the Deep Root imprint along with two 7 inch releases and features on compilations from Canada to Spain via Sweden. The album "Showcase" highlights the best tracks from the 7 inch releases and the first four 10 inch releases along with the very best unreleased versions from the ZION TRAIN studio. The CD release boasts a first for Universal Egg - a 10 minute video remix by the ECHOLAB VJ team showing all the artists and the ABASSI HI POWER sound system in action. the seventh in the series of Abassi All Stars 10" vinyl releases and this one is entitled the "Favi Rock EP". The rhythm is made by Perch of ZION TRAIN. Featured vocalists are Omar Perry, (son of Lee Scratch Perry) of Jamaica and now resident in Brussels, who offers the wisdom that "A Little Prayer" never hurts. Alongside him is the debut from German songstress Lua whose "Lion Woman" speaks of feminine pride and a desire to see women proudly represented in all walks of life. The first Love Grocer long player to be released on Universal Egg is actually the Grocer's third long player, the previous two being with the Dubhead label. This album is a beautiful combination of deep roots reggae, uplifting victory horns and the pastoral textures that the Grocers bring to their compositions.
